Is Calendly free? What the free plan does, and what it costs to run a booking business on it

By the Calybee team · Updated · 3 min read

Yes, Calendly has a free plan, and it does not expire. It is also deliberately small: one kind of meeting, one connected calendar, no payments. Here is what each plan includes, what a real service business ends up paying, and the free options that go further.

The short answer

Calendly Free costs nothing forever, with one event type, one calendar and Calendly branding. To take payments, offer more than one service or send reminders you need Standard at $10 a seat a month billed yearly. Round robin for teams is on Teams at $16 a seat.

If you sell sessions, a tool that includes a website, payments and more than one service will take you further than any free plan. Calybee is one: your own booking page or website, every service you offer, 7 days free and then $19 a month.

Where the free plan stops

The Free plan is a good test of whether online booking suits you. For a business it runs out in a few predictable places:

What a booking business really pays

The subscription is rarely the whole bill. A solo coach or stylist using Calendly usually adds:

Each one is a separate login and a separate bill, and they never quite look alike. That stack is what Calybee puts in one account.

When a free plan is not enough

Calybee is not free, but it is built for running a small business on, and you can set everything up before you pay. Solo Bee includes:

Solo Bee is $19 a month billed yearly, and Teams Bee $29 for five people, both after 7 days free. Calybee never takes a share of your bookings.

Questions people ask

Is Calendly free forever?

Yes. Calendly's Free plan has no time limit. It allows one event type and one connected calendar, and shows Calendly's branding. Payments, reminders and more event types need a paid plan.

How much is Calendly a month?

Standard is $10 a seat a month and Teams is $16 a seat a month, both billed yearly. Enterprise starts at $15,000 a year. Monthly billing costs more.

Can I take payments with Calendly for free?

No. Stripe and PayPal payments start on the Standard plan. Calybee takes payments into your own Stripe or PayPal with 0% commission on both its plans, which start with 7 days free.

What is the best free alternative to Calendly?

For meetings only, Cal.com is free for individuals and Google Calendar's appointment schedules are free with a Google account.

Does Calendly charge a fee on payments?

Calendly passes payments to Stripe or PayPal, which charge their own processing fees. The same is true of Calybee, which adds no commission of its own.
